Dear friend, we can ask two types of questions in English:
1. Yes / No Questions
E.g. Are you ready?
The expected answer will be either 'Yes' or 'No'.
2. Specific Questions
E.g. When can we start our journey?
This sort of questions require us to use question words such as 'When', 'What', 'Where' etc. In reply we expect specific information. In case of the above sentence, we expect to know the time.
Most importantly the following structure is followed while making a question:
(Question Word) Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + other words followed by a question mark.
In Yes / No Questions we don't use any question words.
